Severe weather may be done for tonight but additional rain causing flash flooding is not

Weather Headlines

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- After an active afternoon across the southern half of the Natural State, we are not done with an unsettled weather pattern just yet.

Heading into the overnight hours, additional showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop once again across areas of southern Arkansas. While severe weather is not the issue, flash flooding is very possible.

The latest guidance continues to suggest that a narrow band of heavy rainfall may setup somewhere across the southern half of the state. It is hard to pinpoint exactly where this could develop but a corridor from Ouachita east to Arkansas county may be the target given where ingredients may line up.

On top of what we’ve already observed today, an additional 3-5″ of rainfall looks likely with some isolated pockets of 5″+ possible.

Where those higher totals occur will be where significant flash flooding may take place. That is why a flash flood watch is in effect until 7 AM, Wednesday for much of the state for this reason.

We will continue to monitor this situation and keep you up-to-date here and of course on the air and social media sites.
