(Taylor King Law) – We spend a lot of time making sure friends and family know how to stay safe on the road.

And the same goes for their pets. Dogs are just as likely to be injured in a car accident.

Here are 3 tips to keep your pet safe in a vehicle.

One. The most important thing to remember when traveling with a dog is to always make sure they’re secure and restrained. Whether it’s in a crate or a safety harness securing your dog helps protect them in case of an accident, and it helps you stay focused on the road.

Two. As much as we like to keep our dogs close to us, the safest place for your pet is in the back row of your vehicle.

And three. Before you jump in the car, try and take your dog on a brisk walk.

The more energy I can wear out of your dog before a car ride, the better. Plus, dogs love any excuse for a walk.
