On Monday, the Razorbacks’ road to Omaha was announced and one particular part of it drew the ire of some Razorback fans.

Host teams are allowed to request times that they want to play the first game, but ultimately the NCAA decides. In the Razorbacks case, they granted them the 2pm game on Friday against Oral Roberts. When asked about it by the media on Monday, Dave Van Horn gave his reasoning.

“I like playing the early game,” said Van Horn. “I think it gives you a chance to battle weather if there’s any weather issues. It gives you a little bit of an opportunity to recover a little bit longer, win or lose. And there’s a few other advantages, you don’t have to sit around all day, you just go out there and play.”

Friday’s second game will start at 7pm with the winner’s of each game facing each other on Saturday for a spot in the regional final and the loser’s facing off in an elimination game.
