Wide Receivers coach Justin Stepp has a lot of options this season at Wide Receiver.
The Hogs return their leading receiver in Jonathan Nance who had 37 catches for 539 yards and 5 touchdowns. Deon Stewart and Jordan Jones round out the top three receivers a year ago for Arkansas.
You also get back Koilan Jackson who was out of the season after tearing his ACL in fall camp, and everyone’s favorite dj/carpenter/sewing expert Jared Cornelius who is back from an Achilles injury he suffered last year against Texas A&M. Keeping Cornelius healthy is critical this season.
Really the only bad news is Brandon Martin who is no longer with the team because of academics reasons.
We’d be remised if we didn’t mention La’Michael Pettway, Gary Cross, Tobias Enlow, De’Vion Warren, Jarrod Barnes and newcomer Michael Woods.
So as you can see options. But here is the thing.
The key is separation, and not just from the DB’s downfield. Who is going to separate themselves from the pack?
What Arkansas doesn’t need is Jonathan Nance, Jared Cornelius and then everyone else.
We’ll see who catches coach’s eye in fall camp, because in this fast pace world of Chad Morris, you either step up or get left behind.
