BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Marry Haff was an all-star on the mound for the Hogs this weekend, walking only one in over 22 innings of work. Her success in the circle has earned her SEC Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday (March 4).
Haff recorded 34 strikeouts in five appearances for a cumulative .62 ERA. She gave up no free bases on balls in four of five games, bringing her season total to nine appearances (seven starts) without a walk.She allowed only eight hits and pitched a complete, one-hitter against Omaha on Saturday (March 2).
She tallied her first save of the season against Nevada and was one from tying her career-high twice with 12 Ks against Omaha and Boston.
Haff is part of an Arkansas pitching staff that ranks second in the SEC and ninth in Division I in earned run average. Haff, and teammates Autumn Storms and Lauren Graves have worked hard to piece together a nation’s best strikeout-to-walk ratio, averaging nearly 11 strikeouts for every walk allowed.
With Haff’s five appearances, the Razorbacks closed out the Wooo Pig Classic with a clean 6-0 record on the weekend. The Hogs will be traveling to Missouri State on Wednesday (March 6) before starting SEC play next weekend in Oxford, Miss. at Ole Miss.
