One-Under Sunday, Gaby Lopez finished tied for 60th in the Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championship.
Here’s the transcription from our one-on-one interview with the LPGA Tour Rookie:
Here with Gaby Lopez and Gaby a 70 on Sunday, how was it out there?
It was solid, I hit the ball pretty good, I think I hit almost every fairway and a lot of greens, my speed wasn’t very good on the greens but you know, yesterday I finished with an Eagle, today I finished with a bogey,
it’s golf, I think that’s part of the process, part of the game, and I think I need to learn a little more to enjoy the process.
-4 how pleased are you with that score?
You know didn’t expect anything coming into this week so you know, I’ll take it, it’s why I got to this week,
I think I have different weeks. The playing good, playing okay, it’s just part of the process of learning and playing on this tour because these girls are very good and I want to become one of them.
What was the pin placement like today versus yesterday?
It was tougher today versus yesterday for sure you know, tucked down on the green and the thing is, the greens are a little bit softer. The course I think is playing a little bit easier than last year, but you know a lot of birdie opportunities out there, got to stay patient, and give yourself a chance if you can.
The bogey I know that was frustrating given what you did on 18 yesterday.
You know it was amazing. Yesterday I hit the ball amazing, didn’t make a lot of putts and
hit the pin on 11 and it went back into the water, and ended up with a double.
It was a little frustrating down the stretch but you know I believed and I stayed patient and I made an eagle putt, 25 paces, less than 25, maybe 15 paces for eagle. And i don’t know, I’ll tell you it’s golf and sometimes it’s gonna go your way, sometimes it’s not but you got to learn to enjoy the process.
It’s hard to sum it up in one word, but what are the fans like out here?
You know uh, it’s amazing, every single fan here is so supportive and it’s whether I play good or I play bad. My teammates, my coaches, everything here is so, so special for me, and coming back home here for me you know, to play this tournament, it’s like another major for me.
Gaby thanks very much.
Thanks so much.
Gaby Lopez, Former Razorback,
back to you.
