LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas has now offered a total of three scholarships to nationally Top 50-ranked Class of 2021 prospects who play for 16U Team Griffin out of Oklahoma as the two most recent Hog offers made their announcements via Twitter in the last 24 hours.
2021 Jaxson Robinson (6-6 wing, Ada, OK, national No. 36 / 4-star prospect according to 247Sports.com) and 2021 Daimion Collins (6-9 forward / center, Atlanta, TX, national No. 43 / 4-star prospect according to 247Sports.com) join 2021 teammate Trey Alexander (6-5 combo guard, Heritage Hall in Oklahoma, composite national No. 33 / 4-star prospect) to form the trio of Arkansas offers from 16U Team Griffin.
Robinson announced his offer Monday night, Collins on Tuesday, and Alexander back in mid-April as he was the first sophomore offered by new Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman.
All three players also hold offers from Oklahoma and were being recruited by former Sooners associate head coach Chris Crutchfield, who left Oklahoma to accept the same position at Arkansas on May 17 and is now front-and-center in the trio’s Razorbacks recruitment.
“Coach Crutchfield and I have a good relationship and I think it started with him making a personal connection with me,” said Robinson, who will attend the prestigious Nike Elite 100 Camp in June. “We always talk about how my season is going, what I’m working on and all things basketball but he has also taken the time to get to know me personally. I’m comfortable talking with him and that’s helped us form a good bond.”
Robinson said he spoke with Crutchfield about visiting Arkansas in June.
“I just need to set up a time in between my camps throughout that month and the tournaments coming up.”
Alexander also had high praise for Crutchfield.
“Coach Crutch is a great guy, it’s the first guy I met with my (OU),”Alexander said. “Always been there for me, always texting me. We always talk back and forth, we have a good relationship. I know his son, me and his son played ball together last year. We’ve grown a great bond over the years.
“(The Crutchfield-to-Arkansas move) is definitely helping me with my (Arkansas) recruiting … Arkansas has definitely jumped up because of Coach Crutch making that transfer, because I love Coach Crutch so much.”
Robinson is a long wing with elite skill as a 3-point shooter, and his release is especially quick and accurate in catch-and-shoot opportunities. He made 8-of-9 from 3 during a game in Fayetteville back in April. He reportedly also holds offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Houston, and Tulsa.
Collins is long and wiry, he’s active and runs the floor well, and he attacks the glass and rim with a purpose. He reportedly also holds offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, and Tulsa.
Alexander — he’s related to Arkansas track and field great, Olympic gold medalist, and Hall of Famer Mike Conley, Sr. — is a jack-of-all trades combo guard who can score at all three levels, handles the point guard duties for 16U Team Griffin, and has a high floor IQ. He reportedly also holds offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, SMU, and Tulsa.
Arkansas is also showing interest in a couple more of 16U Team Griffin prospects in 2021 KJ Adams (6-6 combo forward, St. Andrews Episcopal School in Austin, TX, composite national No. 28 / 4-star) and 2021 Bijan Cortes (6-2 point guard, Kingfisher, OK).
Adams is chiseled with plus-athleticism. He reportedly holds offers from Texas Tech, Baylor, LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, SMU, and TCU. Cortes is a crafty handler and facilitator who has reportedly drawn interest fron Auburn, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Colorado State.
