Georgia pitchers Cole Wilcox, Ryan Webb and Aaron Schunk dealt misery to Arkansas batters in a 3-1 win on day three of the SEC Baseball Tournament in Birmingham.
Arkansas took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third when Jacob Nesbit hit a one-out double, moved to third on a wild pitch and then scored on another wild pitch. But the Hogs continued a trend of stranding runners in scoring position and Georgia tied the game in the seventh on an RBI double by Connor Tate.
In the eighth Christian Franklin misplayed a flyball just fair down the third base line. Two runs scored leaving Arkansas down 3-1 going to the ninth. Jack Kenley managed a two-out base hit. Zack Plunkett pinch hit for Casey Optiz and added another base hit. But Nesbit struck out on a 3-2 pitch sending the Hogs into the losers bracket where it will face Ole Miss at approximately 3 pm on Friday.
