After clinching the team’s first trip to the Super Regional in program history, third year head softball coach Courtney Deifel dropped by the Pig Trail Nation studio to talk about the historic weekend.
“It was an incredible weekend out at Bogle,” Deifel told the Pig Trail Nation. And I’m just really proud of our team and finishing it out it was a hard fought battle today (Sunday), it was a really good game but it’s pretty exciting to be advancing.”
Now the Hogs head to Norman, Okla. for a Super Regional matchup with the two-time defending national champion Oklahoma Sooners. Last year, the Sooners ended Arkansas’ season in the Norman Regional, 5-3, but Deifel feels that loss helps the team this season.
“I think we gave them one of their toughest postseason battles last year,” said Deifel. “So I think for our team, they’re not intimidated by anybody. We’re gonna go to Norman and their fans are loyal, but we’re only three and a half hours away and we have some pretty loyal fans also. We’re not big eyed over anything, we’re gonna go and we’re gonna play our game and you never know. On any given day anybody can beat anybody and I think we’re gonna have some really good softball games.”
