The Razorback Soccer team is off to a red hot start this season with a 9-1-0 record and not one but two wins over top-5 teams. Head coach Colby Hale and two of his star players joined our Aaron Peters in studio Sunday. Kayla Mckeon and Sparky Fischer also joining AP for this interview. The ladies are tied for first in the SEC and earned crazy respect from UA athletic director Jeff Long who jumped into a mud puddle out of excitement over the Hogs win over #4 Florida.

“Hey back at the Pigtrail show. Special in studio guests. The Razorback soccer team off to an outstanding start this year. Head Coach, Koby Hale joining me now. Now the winningest coach in history. How’s that feel rolling off the tongue.”

Colby Hale
“It’s good you know. I actually didn’t know that until they asked me the question an interview.”

Aaron Peters
“Well did you like am I really? Well congratulations on that. Let’s start with Sparky Fisher. You’re the senior here. We also have Kala Mcgown and you’re the freshman, so as a senior and a freshman, you’re off to a 9-1 start. What’s this experience like? Are you going to tell her this isn’t how it always is?”

Sparky Fischer
“I mean, I think we both built up the program to know that we have high excpectations that we want to meet, but I think it’s definitely awesome for her to see some success at a young age, but I know we have experience with adversity in the past, and I think our experience that we’ve had as a team will be able to give them some insight into winning is great and we strive to win every time, but losing also part of the game, and I think we are getting to see a part of it now. I mean, we hope to keep going and make a big impact on the field, so it’s awesome.

Aaron Peters
“Yeah, so the leadin scorer as a freshman. How are you doing this?”

Kayla McKeon
“I have a lot of upperclassman that have really helped me out a lot. I really look to them most of the time, and it’s a team effort. We have a lot of people that help out in the attacking part of the field, so it’s not just me.”

Aaron Peters
“So it’s not just you. You are giving credit to youyr teammates. I like it. A big win today coach. Pushes your record to 9 and 1. Let’s flash back, two top five victoies already. You beat Duke in the third game of the season and then you beat number 4 Florida. These are things that haven’t happened before in Razorback soccer history.”

Colby Hale
“Yeah, it’s fun. It’s kind of what makes this opportunity special. You know, a lot of things we do are, Sparky has been here for four years and we’ve been to our first Henceway tournament, Sweet 16. We had a lot of firsts. Beat Texas, OU and OSU for the first time, and each class kind of has a chance to make their own mark. The freshman are playing tremendously well, but ultimately have some upper classman who are leading well and showing the example of what this looks like you know. We had a buncvh of injuries last year and we went to make some adversity, and I think that created hunger in this group, and they lead just by example. Well I mean we’ve said we only had one bad training session, and what are we five or six weeks in? And you know, we’ve had some bad moments to the session, but even then, the other day Sparky said coach Koby, we need a second. Brought them together and it was fixed. That’s the mark of a championship team  there.

Aaron Peters
“Well then, if this is your fourth year, what’s different about this years team than the previous team maybe?”

Sparky Fischer
“I just think that we can rely a lot on the freshman coming in. They have made a really big impact, and I think the depth of this team is what’s reallyu helped us, but even just at practices you can just tell that there is a level of, the competition of competing in practices is there. I think that makes all of us better, because no spot on the field is certain and guarenteed, so each practice they bring in a new level of engery and I think, not just them, our entire team can.  We can, there is really a lot of competition battle in our practices and I think that is really.”

Aaron Peters
“It breeds success. You have to work for your playing time. Kayla, what did you think when you saw the athletic director jump into a mud puddle after the game when you beat Florida. He douve into a mud puddle, a full suit, to support you guys.”

Kayla McKeon
“I was not expecting it. I don’t think anyone was expecting it honestly. It was just.”

Sparky Fischer
“I think first we were just nervous for the suit.”

Kayla McKeon
“Yeah, I was just nervous. That’s a nice suit.”

Aaron Peters
“Yeah, I was about to say. He had the shoes and the whole nine yards. You know coach, that is a pefect time to ask for a raise.”

Colby Hale
“Actually, one of my budies texted me and said you are not getting a raise. He is spending it on dry cleaning.”

Aaron Peters
“That’s true. What does that mean, noticing him at the game, supporting you that way, and that video went viral. You know he is supporting you guys.”

Colby Hale
“I think that, well Iit was one of the big networks picked that up.  And bascially their tweet was, if only every AD cared about women’s soccer like this one does. And you know, it’s been honestly from, the start. My very first year, we wen to the SEC tournament for the first time in 14 years, and when we did, him and Matt, John and Erick Wood and Clay Hamilton flew out to the game. You know, in Orange beach and hugged all these girls and told them he was proud of them, and since we have been here in terms of facilities and taking care of our program and the supports been, as a great example of it,  but it’s been a day to day thing.”

Aaron Peters
“Alright, Razorback soccer tied for the lead in the SEC 2 and 0, 9 and 0
