Batesville (Miss.) South Panola running back Janari Dean has narrowed his decision down to five schools and will have a decision on July 4.
He announced the decision Monday on Twitter.
Arkansas, Mississippi State, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina made the cut. A couple of notable schools missing from the list were Ole Miss and Alabama.
Dean, 6-0, 190, is the cousin of Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson. Dean visited Arkansas Jan. 26.
He is rated as a defensive back by some of the recruiting services, but Arkansas is recruiting him as a running back.
Arkansas was the first of his finalists to offer as they extended one on May 30, 2018. Mississippi State offered on Aug. 17, 2018. Tennessee (May 10), South Carolina (May 3) and Georgia (May 22) offered last month.
Dean is rated a three-star recruit by the major recruiting services.
