McKinney (Texas) North tight end Brandon Frazier has committed to Arkansas.
Frazier announced his decision on Twitter.
He is the eighth commitment for Arkansas in the Class of 2020 and second tight end. He joins Crockett (Texas) High School’s Allen Horace as Arkansas’ pair of tight ends in this recruiting class.
Frazier, 6-7, 250, chose the Razorbacks over Baylor as well as several other offers including Texas Tech and Alabama among the rest. The three-star recruit had approximately 15 offers.
As a junior, Frazier caught 37 passes for 513 yards and five touchdowns. That followed a sophomore season in 2017 when he had 22 receptions for 423 yards and four touchdowns.
He took an official visit to Arkansas May 2-4. At the time, he was impressed with what he saw from Chad Morris and the Razorbacks.
“Just the connectedness of all the players and coaches and the vibe they brought in,” Frazier said. “It’s really good, really cool to see. They’re definitely flipping the program back to winning games and stuff. That’s going to be fun to watch.”
At that time, Frazier talked about his two finalists Arkansas and Baylor.
“The only thing that separates Baylor from Arkansas is them just winning right now,” Frazier said. “Coach (Matt) Rhule and coach (Jeff) Nixon over there I really like those guys. Really good guys and they win. That’s one thing I told coach Morris about here and he said, ‘You’ve just got to trust the process because they flip all the schools they go to like SMU and Clemson.’ They turned it around and they will turn this one around. It’s just trusting they will do that.”
Frazier also talked to Morris and Barry Lunney about the tight end position. They told him he controls his own destiny as far as how quickly he gets on the field at Arkansas. Playing early was big with him as well.
“”Playing early, getting a degree paid for, having good helpful coaches getting me to where I want to go, and just develop as a better man,” Frazier said.
