Butler County (Kan.) Community College Class of 2020 inside linebacker Juwan Mitchell will officially visit this weekend.
Mitchell, 6-2, 225, committed to Minnesota on March 29, but now will take a closer look at the Razorbacks. On Tuesday, Mitchell talked about what he’s looking for this weekend.
“I’m just looking to get to meet everybody and get to know what I’m looking at,” Mitchell said. “It’s my first SEC school so I’m just looking to see what it’s all about.”
Despite his commitment to Minnesota, Arkansas has caught Mitchell’s attention.
“I’m committed to Minnesota because that’s my family, but Arkansas came to me with something I just couldn’t overlook,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell, who is from Middletown (N.J.) Mater Dei is a December graduate. He also has offers to Minnesota, UTEP, Rutgers, Tennessee-Martin, Old Dominion, Tennessee Chattanooga and New Mexico. He expects the Hogs to offer this weekend if not sooner.
“They said they are gonna offer me the head coach (Chad Morris) just wants to see me,” Mitchell said. “It’s just a matter of if it’s gonna happen now or this weekend, but it’s gonna happen.”
He finished sixth on the Grizzlies in 2018 with 55 tackles, including 27 solo, 7.5 for loss, two sacks, an interception and one pass breakup in 12 games.
“It went great,” Mitchell said of his true freshman season. “I am mature. I feel I had a real mature season. This was my first season to really understand everything on the field.”
