Florida State defeated Arkansas 1-0 in the first round of the College World Series.
Florida State put at least one runner on in each of the first 6 innings. However, Isaiah Campbell repeatedly worked his way out of a jam and no runs scored. Arkansas’ Ace had a lights out performance on the mound Saturday. He pitched 7 innings and gave up just 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 10 batters.
Unfortunately, the Razorbacks couldn’t score any runs either. Florida State’s pitcher, Drew Parrish, kept the Razorbacks off balance all game. He pitched 8 innings and allowed just 5 hits and 2 walks.
Arkansas had a real chance to pick up a run in the 8th inning with Christian Franklin on third base and only one out. However, Casey Martin and Matt Goodheart both struck out and left him stranded. The Razorbacks were 0-7 with runners in scoring position through 8 innings.
It all came down to the 9th inning.
Florida State put two on after one batter was hit by a pitch and another reached on a fielder’s choice. Nander De Sedas then hit a sac fly to right and the Seminoles took a 1-0 lead to win the game.
