LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – ACE Glass, a Little Rock-based glass company, is doing more than just helping to repair broken glass – they’re fixing broken hearts.
Chris Taylor, an employee at ACE glass and an ex-convict, is getting the help he needs to transition back into society.
Now with the company for seven months, Taylor says his employer is helping to change lives for the better.
“To me, it’s a second chance,” says Taylor. “Thank God for it.”
Taylor recently got married and purchased a home – something he says he couldn’t have done without the chance to prove himself.
“I was getting frustrated because I kept applying,” Taylor explains. “Came here for an interview they hired me the same day.”
ACE Glass owner, Courtney Little, says they partner with local ex-convict re-entry programs because it helps all involved.
“The people that work with us are also part of our community,” explains Little. “We can’t forget about them. By giving people a second chance you give them the opportunity to develop new skills.”
The glass company partners with The Exodus Project to help those formerly incarcerated. The program sends inmates to classes over a 12 week period.
“We are honored to provide career opportunities in commercial construction and manufacturing for people who are doing things right as they enter back into the workforce,” says Little.
Taylor says he recently was trained on new equipment, which allows him to learn new life skills. He says his favorite thing about ACE Glass is they care about their employees.
“Every morning after the safety meeting we pray,” Tayor says. “I really thank these people because basically, they saved my life.”
ACE Glass has served Arkansans for over 30 years and hires hard-working, reliable, drug-free individuals who are looking for a career in the construction industry that offers training, good wages, and benefits.
