Thieves Use Stolen Church Van In Burglary

DREW COUNTY, Ark.- Church members in Drew County are left wondering who would steal from their place of worship.

The act was caught on camera, but the sheriff’s office is not releasing the video because it’s under investigation.

Investigators said thieves took the van from Shady Grove Baptist Church in Monticello on Highway 172.

The van was found abandoned on Greenfield Drive full of clothes and tools.

The thieves stole the items from an apartment on Bowser Road. The van sits outside a local tow company with shattered glass on the inside.

“It was just disbelief. It’s hard to believe that happened. Why would someone shoot it up because it was stuck. It doesn’t make any sense,” Hill said.

Hill said this incident won’t stop them from their services and events.

Police say they are still investigating this case and hope to have a suspect soon.
