TEXARKANA, Ark. – A man is jailed after being arrested in the investigation of a local phone store robbery.
The Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) says Rolston Lockett, 26, was taken into custody on Tuesday and confessed to the heist during an interview on Wednesday.
The MetroPCS at 809 East St. was robbed around 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Police say later that evening Lockett was involved in an altercation inside the MetroPCS store on Richmond Rd. while trying to pay his cell phone bill. He told officers he had tried to pay the bill earlier at the 809 East St. store.
The TAPD says Rolston was wearing headgear and Nike shoes that matched those of the robbery suspect and a warrant was issued the next day for his arrest. Officers found Lockett at a motel on N. State Line Ave. and took him into custody. A search warrant for evidence related to the robbery was obtained by TAPD detectives, who located what they believe to be the handgun used in the crime, along with headgear and Nike shoes, inside the motel room.
Police say Rolston is a convicted felon and warrants for illegally possessing a handgun are forthcoming.
