BEAVER, Ark. (KNWA) – Watch this video of the Beaver Bridge bending as a large bus passes over it on Saturday!
The bridge is located in Beaver (Carroll County), just north of Eureka Springs and was built in 1943, according to the Arkansas The Natural State website.
It is known as the “Golden Gate of the Ozarks.”
“This historic swinging bridge is the last one in Arkansas open to vehicular traffic and is referred to as “the bridge to nostalgia.” The structure was featured in the 2005 movie, “Elizabethtown,” the website states.
The Arkansas Department of Transportation posted this on social media at noon Monday:
Carroll Co.: Preliminary inspection by our bridge crew has determined no damage occurred on the SH 187 bridge at Beaver when this 35 ton bus crossed. The bridge is restricted to 10 tons. @AR_BridgeTrolls will arrive this afternoon for a more detailed assessment.
