Update: Suspect caught in Fayetteville murder investigation

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA) – The Springdale Police Department (SPD) has taken Dekota Harvey into custody.

Lt. Jeff Taylor with SPD said Harvey was found at Applegate Apartments.

He was taken into custody without incident and surrendered himself to authorities.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) –  Authorities are searching for a suspect responsible for a deadly shooting that happened on Thursday (Mar. 14) at an apartment complex in Fayetteville, according to police.

The Fayetteville Police Department said it responded to a shooting around 9:15 p.m. on Thursday at an apartment complex on 900 N. Leverett Avenue in Fayetteville.

When officers arrived on scene they said they found two victims. Both victims were taken to an area hospital. Police said one of them died from their injuries. The other one is being treated for a gunshot wound.

Police have identified the suspect as 22-year-old Dekota Harvey. He is wanted on suspicion of murder and first degree battery.

Harvey has brown curly hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing black pants and a black coat, according to police.

Police said if you see Harvey do not approach him. He is considered armed and dangerous.
