Smoke in cockpit at XNA airport, plane lands safely

HIGHFILL, Ark. (KNWA) – An aircraft that landed safely at Northwest Regional Airport (XNA) was reported to have smoke in the cockpit Thursday afternoon, according to XNA COO Kelly Johnson.

Envoy Air, a carrier for American Airlines, safely made an emergency landing. The plane was headed to Dallas from Springfield, Mo.

The reason for the smoke has not been determined. There were 57 people on board.

Central EMS, and other emergency crews were dispatched to the airport.
