LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Did you see this shooting star?

The sky across Arkansas lit up this evening around 7:25pm CDT as a meteor streaked overhead.

A bright flash accompanied the “shooting star” before it disintegrated in the Earth’s atmosphere. Although we can’t be sure exactly what it was, it was most likely a space rock that was drifting by and captured by Earth’s gravity.

When it began encountering the Earth’s atmosphere, friction and heat began to build up causing the meteor to burn up.

It was a meteor associated Taurid Meteor Shower.
