K9 shot in friendly fire a week ago, Jonesboro Police admits internal investigation underway

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – An internal investigation is underway at the Jonesboro Police Department after an officer reportedly shot a K9 officer.

The incident happened 10 days ago on April 30 at the Craighead County sheriff’s firing range, according to Sally Smith, public information specialist for the Jonesboro Police Department.

The department did not inform the media until several Freedom of Information Act requests were made by various news outlets.
