Crews Battle 40 Acre Fire in Garland County

LONSDALE, Ark. – Crews battled a 40 acre fire Monday evening, according to the Lonsdale and Morning Star Fire Departments.

The fire was located near the 6200 block of Spring St. in the Lonsdale area, according to fire officials. 

The Arkansas Forestry Commission also responded to the fire. 

The Lonsdale Fire Chief says the fire was located in a wooded area about two miles from the main road. 

People began calling at 6 p.m. and fire crews were dispatched at 6:30 p.m.

Responders set up a fire break, according to officials. 

Fire officials say people could see smoke in the area for up to 24 hours. 

There are no injuries at this time. 

Officials believe a lightning strike caused the fire.
