BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) – Filmmakers and celebrities hit the blue carpet Wednesday night for the 5th Annual Bentonville Film Festival.

The opening ceremony was held at Crystal Bridges.

Several dynamic female actresses, including Jackie Cruz, who plays Flaca on “Orange is the New Black,” joined Geena Davis on this year’s panel.

Stepping out of the ring from the hit show “Glow,” Sydelle Noel is also in town.

Davis spoke about the festival’s impact.

“We are severely under represented, unfortunately,” Davis said. “We are half the population and in every area of society, especially leadership positions, every sector. There’s far fewer women. So we need to use what we show on screen so that it’ll happen in real life, so that’s why it’s important.”
