PINE BLUFF, AR — Students in at a Jefferson County are having some classes in room where there’s no heat.

Watson Chapel schools Superintendent Danny Hazlewood confirms there is an outage at the district’s high school.

He calls it a standard maintenance issue, and crews are making repairs.

Hazlewood tells KARK it only affects a few classrooms.  He said it’s not bad enough to cancel school.

Others disagree.

“I think they need to cancel school, fix the heat, call school off until it’s fixed, and bring the kids back when it’s warm again,” said Jessica Gibson, who has a sister at WCHS.

Hazlewood said the heating and air system they use is only six years old.
