Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter called actions in Dallas on Thursday “sad” and “pitiful” while speaking with Local 2 News on Friday morning.
It comes after officials say four police officers were killed and others were injured following an ambush attack in Dallas during protests late Thursday night.
“Getting out in the street and committing murder, ambushing people is not the way to solve anything,” Painter says.
“It doesn’t matter what your color is or what your creed is or your language; that never solves anything.”
Painter also shared his thoughts moving forward regarding law enforcement.
“We’re a target, see, we wear a badge and a gun and a uniform.” Painter says.
“People know who we are.”
Painter got emotional while reflecting on the tragedy:
“That’s pitiful. Very sad. I can only imagine what Jesus is thinking now.”
