Ribbon Cutting and Dedication Held for Ivy Hill Academy of Scholarship

News

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — ScholarMade Achievement Place of Arkansas, a public charter school system, hosted a ribbon cutting and dedication for its first school.

The Ivy Hill Academy of Scholarship is set to open in August to 290 K-5 students.

The new charter school is located in the historic James Mitchell School building in the 2400 block of South Battery.

The ceremony took place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

Built in 1908, the historic James Mitchell School sat unused for 15 years after it was closed by the Little Rock School District.

Over the last year, ScholarMade has completed multi-million-dollar renovations to the 42,000-square-foot facility.

A representative of the school says the renovations were done in order to bring the building up to National Register of Historic Place standards.
