QUITMAN, Ark. – Severe weather is causing major damage to some property in central Arkansas.

One of the properties damaged is in Quitman. A house and barn were left in pieces by severe weather.

The family that lives in the damaged home said around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday night they heard cracking and felt their house shaking. It’s located off Highway 356.

The father shielded his wife and one-year-old son as their roof came crashing down.

And down the street, a barn was torn to pieces by strong winds.

The Red Cross has taken care of the family, and they’re safe and unharmed.

Fire officials said no one has reported any injuries from this severe weather.
