WASHINGTON, D.C. – Social media is giving two members of the Arkansas congressional delegation the chance to poke a little fun at some Capitol Hill colleagues.
It’s a non-political issue that’s triggered a war of words of sorts.
It all started Thursday when U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton noted an article in the Wall Street Journal titled “Don’t Tell Texas, But Arkansas Is Laying Claim to Queso.”
Sen. Cotton tagged the article when he tweeted to Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. John Cornyn, fellow Republicans from Texas, posting this message: Arkansas cheese dip > Texas cheese dip.
Sen. Cornyn responded by tweeting “Say it ain’t so!.”
Arkansas Second District Congressman Rep. French Hill then weighed in, tweeting “It is true Senator, #Arkansas does have the best queso.”
The debate continued Friday when Cornyn tweeted “Gentlemen: On behalf of 27M Texans, we accept your challenge. Grab your chips and let’s have a taste-off.”
“You’re on! Blind taste test judged by our colleagues? I’m confident Arkansas cheese dip will emerge the winner over Texas “queso,” tweeted Cotton in response.
There’s no word yet on if, when or where the challenge would really take place.
