Bill would require food workers to get Hep A vaccine

Politics

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A bill that would require food service workers to get vaccinated against Hepatitis A.

This comes after reports of positive Hep A tests in restaurant employees across eastern Arkansas.

Each positive case of Hep A in a restaurant worker that we’ve reported comes with minimal risk to the public.

Health officials always suggest getting vaccinated just in case.

“I think one of the take homes is vaccines make a difference, vaccines save lives, they reduce the incidents of disease and so in general from a physician’s standpoint, I’m going to tell you vaccinations, vaccinations, vaccinations,” says Dr. Shane Speights with NYIT.

This bill is sponsored by representative Jack Ladyman of Jonesboro.

It’s been assigned to the House Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee.
