LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A Little Rock woman is putting a lot of love and time into a cause that’s given thousands of children a sense of security. And what better way to do that than a blanket?

Melissa Ziegenhorn spends several hours a day sitting behind her grandmother’s sewing machine.

It’s a tradition she carries on with her nieces.

Her flannel creations now go to faces that aren’t familiar.

Since January, she has sewn 3,000 baby blankets, burp cloths and more, delivering them to organizations across Arkansas and her home state of Louisiana.

On Monday, KARK surprised Ziegenhorn with a $250 gift card to Joanne’s Fabrics.
