It Stays Crunchy, Even in Milk! It’s Pat Walker’s last Sock It 4Ward Campaign in April benefiting The CALL. This pair of socks is for fans of the famed breakfast cereal, Cap’n Crunch! What’s your favorite flavor? Mine is Peanut Butter Cap’n Crunch.
The Call, this socktion’s beneficiary, is a faith-based organization whose mission is to educate, equip, and encourage the Christian community to provide a future an a hope for children in foster care in Arkansas. Last year alone, 2018, The CALL recruited 1,059 foster homes that cared for 3,946 children and youth. And 325 children and youth found their forever families through the efforts of The CALL.
The Call is funded solely by contributions from individuals, churches, foundations, and corporations. Recruitment, training, and support are provided at NO COST to the State of Arkansas.
They work closely with the Arkansas Department of Children and Family Service to place foster children and youth in caring families throughout Arkansas. In it’s 11 year history, The CALL has recruited over 2,000 families to care for more than 13,000 children. Over 1,100 of those children have been adopted into those families as a result of The Calls’s work. More than 2/3 of foster families in Arkansas have been recruited by the CALL. Bid Now!
8,200 children are in Arkansas foster care every year due to abuse or neglect. There are only 1,600 families available to care for these children. The CALL is working to change this by mobilizing the Church in Arkansas to care and love for these children with the love of Christ. They help adults become foster parents, adoptive parents, or volunteers by breaking down barriers to get started or take that first step. Their mission is to have more than enough homes for children in foster care, so that no child is waiting for a home.
Back to the Socks. Of course, these socks are brand new, and “they got corn for crunch, oats for punch, and they stay crunch, even in milk.” They are a duplicate of the pair Pat Walker wore Friday morning during KARK 4 Today.
