NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – It’s always fun to see the beauty of Arkansas highlighted nationally and even more so when it’s on an HBO show.
True Detective filmed in northwest Arkansas and to make it all that much sweeter and local, two students from North Little Rock High School are in the series as well.
KARK’s Isabella Moller catches up with them after filming, hearing about their experience, and hoping for some sneak peeks into the season.
The latest season of True Detective is filmed with a show-stopping cast and in a show-stopping location…okay that might be a little biased. But regardless, the show is getting national attention.
And two North Little Rock students, they’re getting attention as well.
Corbin and Grace Pitts landed roles in the new season filmed in northwest Arkansas.
“It happened in 6th grade, there was an open casting call in Little Rock for a bunch of characters,” says Corbin Pitts, 7th grader.
Corbin was cast as Mike Ardoin and is in the first and second episodes and possibly more…of course they couldn’t say which ones.
“I met a lot of new people and I’m still friends with them today,” says Grace Pitts.
Grace, while she was too old for a speaking part, she was cast to be a background character. She’s in the playground scene in episode 2 beside Carmen Ejogo.
Both who have been acting for the better part of 10 years say it was an awesome experience to work alongside the best of the best.
“You would think it’d be nerve-wracking acting with someone really big in the business but its really not,” says Corbin.
And they made friends with them too. Corbin even celebrated his birthday alongside Richard Meehan, Brandon Flynn, and Rhys Wakefield.
“It was really fun, I got treated really awesome,” says Corbin.
Back home and well, back to school–now it’s cool to get texts saying…
“A lot of my friends watched it and they sent me videos of Corbin doing his interview,” says Grace.
The Pitts family couldn’t give away all the secrets of the show but did hint that we would see Corbin’s character throughout the season.
