LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Our station is set to celebrate Nexstar* Founder’s Day of Caring on Friday.
Our staff volunteers will roll up their sleeves and help three local charities with a variety of projects to celebrate Nexstar Broadcasting Group’s 20th anniversary.
As part of the day, we will be using the special Twitter hashtag #NexstarCares to share what we’re doing all day long.
These are the organizations where our teams will be working:
- Wolfe Street Foundation is Arkansas’ largest non-profit resource dedicated to recovery from alcoholism and addiction. Our staff volunteers will be working to organize and clean several storage areas, deep clean the kitchen including two big refrigerators/oven and defrost freezer and lay bricks in the outside garden.
- Arkansas Dream Center reaches out in communities across the state of Arkansas, serves their needs, and restores their dreams! The Arkansas Dream Center strives to help solve moral decay, crime, drugs, gangs, homelessness and poverty epidemics that exist throughout Arkansas. Our staff volunteers will be working on a landscaping project for their newly acquired Women’s Restoration Home located nearby.
- Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled, Inc. (AEDD) is a private, non-profit organization that provides services to adults with developmental disabilities, and preschool-aged children 6 weeks to 5 years with developmental disabilities or delays. Our staff volunteers will be working at the Lacy Landers Skills Training Center, a 60,000 square foot production facility that offers work opportunities, adult development, skills training and therapies. AEDD’s mission is to empower individuals with disabilities to improve the quality of their lives. Our team will be doing the renovation of their current physical therapy area to help increase excitement, enthusiasm and attendance for therapy sessions among their clients, along with providing a functional and cheerful place for therapists to administer their services. We will be painting walls, installing flooring, putting together cabinets, moving furniture and fixtures, and cleaning up the therapy area.
