LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (News release) – The Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant announced Monday that Savannah Skidmore is the new Miss Arkansas 2016.
Skidmore, 21, is from Calico Rock, Arkansas and is a senior at the University of Arkansas majoring in Broadcast Journalism. She is the daughter of Jerry and Kim Skidmore. Savannah is the granddaughter of Duane and Sue Price and Robert and Marion Skidmore, all of Calico Rock.
Skidmore competed as Miss University of Arkansas at the Miss Arkansas 2016 Pageant where she was first runner up to Miss Arkansas and won a Preliminary Award for Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit.
More information on Skidmore’s official crowning will be released in the coming weeks.
She will assume the duties of Miss Arkansas 2016 because Savvy Shields, Miss Arkansas 2016, was crowned Miss America 2017 Sunday night.
During her year as Miss Arkansas 2016, Savannah will make appearances across the Natural State serving as Arkansas’ spokesperson for the Children’s Miracle Network and the Arkansas Children’s Hospital and promoting her personal platform of “Speak Up Now: Suicide Prevention and Awareness.” She will also promote the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant while speaking about the goals of the Miss Arkansas and Miss America System.
