INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, Ark.– A missing mother’s car showed up nearly 3 weeks after her family said they last heard from her.
The Independence County Sheriff said Brooke Allensworth’s car was found abandoned under a rural bridge last Friday.
We talked with the missing woman’s father, niece, and sister Monday. They were all upset and all trying to just find some type of balance between hope and fear while looking for their loved one.
Brooke Allensworth’s dad told us his daughter was at a salon getting her nails and hair done the day before vanishing.
The 37-year-old’s car sat with a flat tire under an overpass near a boat ramp in rural Independence County.
“Brooke we need you to come home. You’re that missing link,” her sister Kelly Avants told us.
Her older sister tried to stay positive nearly 3 weeks after the mother of 3 was last seen near Newark and Oil Trough.
Avants said, “I’m the one that’s suppose to be protecting her and it’s killing me.”
Last Thursday Allensworth’s father filed an official missing person’s report with Searcy Police since that’s where his daughter lived when she disappeared.
“I know that in my heart she would not hurt herself. And she has never gone this long without having contact,” she said.
The next day the Independence County Sheriff said the missing woman’s car was found, abandoned and appeared to have been for awhile.
Sheriff Shawn Stephens said, “It looks like she broke down had a flat tire. Then someone come through and she left.”
But when asked if they could rule out foul play? He replied,”No. We can’t.”
The sheriff said they can’t get in touch with the last person known to be with the missing mom.
His message to that person, “Talk to us. Answer our phone calls. We’re not concerned about what trouble you’ve been in in the past. We just, we need to talk to get this young woman located and get her back safe.”
The family holds onto hope that Brooke will call.
Avants took a deep breathe and said, “We try to stay positive.”
