LITTLE ROCK, Ark.– At least 3 dozen gunshots detected, a home shot up with kids inside, masked men rob a gas station that sits across the street from a school are some of scenes officers worked Monday night according to Little Rock Police.
Detective hit the streets investigating these separate cases Monday.
Our reporter Price McKeon obtained exclusive surveillance video of the gas station robbery.
We learned no one was hurt at the 3 crimes scenes that occurred across the city in less than 2 hours Monday night.
The video showed 2 masked men following a Stagecoach Road gas station employee inside the store around 10:15 Monday night.
One of the men sticks a gun in the clerk’s face and appears to demand money from him.
Aaron Thomas said, “It makes me very concerned. I feel for the owners of this gas station but I fear for myself.”
We counted more than 20 bullet holes at one home… where two 12yos were inside, according to a @LRpolice report. The house sits ACROSS the street from an elementary school #ARNews pic.twitter.com/qyRdgYu0Jh — Price McKeon (@PriceMcKeon) April 30, 2019
Thomas stops daily at his neighborhood Superstop where the robbery happened.
“Me (or) my wife could’ve been in the gas station at that particular time,” he said.
But less than an hour earlier and miles away are where LRPD’s busy night started.
A bullet hit a car driving on 12th street after a shot spotter detected more than a dozen gunshots, according to a police report. We learned from another LRPD report that less than 2 hours later officers responded to a Valentine Street home where 2 kids were inside.
We saw more than 2 dozen bullet holes on the home and cars parked in the 1600 block of S. Valentine which is right across the street from an elementary school.
“It’s just sad. It’s just sad,” Tiffany Johnson said.
She is a substitute teaches there.
“They’re here to play. They’re here to learn. We’re not here to show them the police and detectives that are across the street,” Johnson said.
The gas station that was robbed was also across the street from a different elementary school.
Busy Monday evening for @LRpolice. I’ve learned from 40+ pages of police reports that dozens of bullets hit: home with kids inside, parked cars, a moving car & that’s not all. #ARNews pic.twitter.com/qKSGtTjMWp — Price McKeon (@PriceMcKeon) April 30, 2019
Both schools were closed at the time of the crimes.
Thomas said, “You think elementary schools, churches (and) those types of facilities are immune to them (crimes but) they’re not. Crime is everywhere.”
At least 3 dozen gunshots and 3 crimes scenes within 2 hours Monday night left Thomas calling on his community to keep an eye out.
The of that gas station told us that’s the 3rd time in less than 6 months his business has been robbed.
Police reports do not indicate a connection between any of the cases.
Officers have not made any arrests as of this time this web story was posted Tuesday evening.
