LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Speaking with a room full of women, April Pollard was right in her element last Friday. The room was filled with entrepreneurs, managers, business owners, and mothers who were all there for one purpose.
“Providing that space where we can come together as one really allows us to develop relationships that we can then develop business relationships from as well,” Pollard explained.
She started the Women Influencers of Arkansas two years ago.
“I saw a need in myself to connect on a deeper level with other women,” she said.
Since its birth, the group has grown from six women to more than 100. Once a month they meet in Little Rock, Conway and Saline County. Sometimes they have guest speakers. Other times the meetings serve as an opportunity to network and gain inspiration from each other.
“This community of women, I have found for myself, to be very, very fulfilling and that’s something that I’ve never had in my career,” Pollard said.
She was not the only one who felt that way.
“It has given a value to so many women that is incredible,” Cora Gray said.
Gray learned about Women Influencers at a physical therapy conference two years ago. She has been hooked ever since.
“It’s not just coffee. It’s not just listening to a speaker. It really is lifelong friendships that you’re going to form. It’s finding value in other women that you’re not going to get anywhere else,” Gray said.
There are no requirements to join, but Pollard said the group welcomes women who will be an encouragement and inspiration to others.
“We don’t tear each other down. We build each other up so that we can build a stronger community of women who help build business together,” Pollard said.
