LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Rock Region Metro is selling streetcar and bus riders half-price tickets when they download a new boarding app.
The new mobile-ticketing app pilot program in partnership with Token Transit gives customers a new and cashless fare payment choice.
The Token Transit app will allow customers to purchase and activate Metro passes using their smartphones before boarding the bus, adding a new level of convenience for Metro riders.
“This is a great way for people to explore their city,” says Becca Green, Director at Rock Region Metro. “We get a lot of great feedback from the holiday lights, and it’s just a great way to add holiday spirit to the city.”
All fare types are available on the new app, including individual ride tickets, day passes and a new half-price fair that is being sold this weekend only.
“With the new pilot program, riders can purchase the tickets today and tomorrow for half the price,” explains Green. “It’s a super easy app to use, and makes it more convenient if you don’t have cash.”
Rock Region Metro has already seen an increase in customers since the launching of the pilot program.
Green says she hopes the festive holiday streetcars will not only help with sales but also add holiday cheer to the city.
“We might have started decorating early, but it really is only because it does take some time to decorate each streetcar,” says Green. “We do keep one car not decorated and reserved for rental.”
