Update: Victim identified in Arkadelphia homicide

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Arkadelphia Police have identified the victim in the city’s first homicide since 2013.

Officials say the victim was Jalen McGhee, 26, of Arkadelphia.

Investigators say McGhee and the suspect, Stanley Powell, 59, of Arkadelphia, knew each other.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – A homicide is being investigated by the Arkadelphia Police Department (APD).

It happened during a reported disturbance at a home around 1:20 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the APD.

The victim, described as a 26-year-old man, was found lying in the road with a gunshot wound to the chest. He died after being taken to the hospital. His name is not yet being released.

Police say Stanley Powell, 58, of Arkadelphia, was found at the scene and taken into custody.

The APD says its investigation into the incident is on-going, and no further suspects are being sought.
