Update: Suspect Arrested in California for Arkansas Homicide

SPRINGDALE, Ark. – A teen identified as a suspect in a homicide last week has been arrested in Southern California.

The Springdale Police Department (SPD) provided details on the arrest of Anjel Torres, 18, in a Monday morning news release. He is accused in the shooting death of Javier Nicolas-Rodriguez, 19, of Bethel Heights.

The SPD says Torres was taken into custody Sunday evening in San Bernardino with the assistance of the United States Marshals Office and the California Highway Patrol.

He faces charges of Murder 1st Degree, Terroristic Act, Engaging in a Continuing Criminal Enterprise, and Aggravated Assault.

SPRINGDALE, Ark. – One person is reported dead in an early morning shooting.

The Springdale Police Department (SPD) says it happened around 3 a.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of Pioneer Street. 

Officers investigating a call about gunshots in the area found a vehicle that had crashed in the driveway of a home. 

Inside that vehicle they found the shooting victim dead. He has been identified as Javier Nicolas-Rodriquez, 19. 

The SPD says detectives are working the case as a homicide.
