LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – If there’s one thing you won’t find at May Brown’s kitchen table, it would be an empty stomach.
”Arkansans love good food. We love the best food,” says Brown. ”If the food that we cook is not good, whatever we put on the table, we are going to have some frowns.”
She loves a good trip to the grocery store and is willing to try Trader Joe’s.
The empty space, where Toys ‘R Us was located near Chenal Parkway could be home to a new Trader Joe’s location, according to the popular website Rock City Eats.
On Tuesday, for the first time, the popular grocery-store chain confirmed it’s working to bring a store to Little Rock.
They couldn’t discuss a timeline because a spokesperson says they are ‘in the early stages of planning’.
“Personally, I’ve never been to one,” says Michael Bryant.
Bryant works next-door to the rumored location. He says he wants to shop at a Trader Joe’s because of the hype alone and says it would be good for the economy.
“I’ve never lived somewhere where there was one. I know a lot of people talking about it,” says Bryant.
Brown says she would go too.
The grocery-store chain focuses on its own Trader Joe’s brand products, some have a cult-like following, something Brown says she’s will to start waiting for.
“We go all on out our way for the best food and the best ingredients that go into our food,” says Brown.
The City of Little Rock says no permits have been filed for construction in the area.
The California-based company has 474 stores nationwide in 43 states and in Washington D.C.
