DODDRIDGE, Ark. (KTAL/KMSS) – Severe weather overnight left its mark on Doddridge. A small church may have taken the worst hit.
Before daylight Thursday, church member and volunteer firefighter Sam Bumgardner woke up to roaring wind.
“It really got loud for probably five or six minutes. Then I got up, looked outside and the wind was really whipping hard.”
“The roof off the Sunday school room was laying in the parking lot,” said Oak Grove Holiness Assembly Pastor Joe Armbrister.
Three of the church’s rooms sustained water damage. Thursday, some members of the church worked to patch what they could.
“We’re ripping off what’s remaining of the old roof there and we are preparing to put a tarp on it to dry it in until we can put a new roof on it,” said Armbrister.
The rest of the church is unharmed and no one was injured. Despite the damage, members are looking ahead to the holiday weekend. Church services will go on as scheduled.
“We’re gonna go strong for Easter Sunday,” Armbrister said.
