Update: Prison escapee caught in Miller County

TEXARKANA, Ark. – An Arkansas state prison inmate who escaped on Monday is back behind bars.

The Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) says Charles Hausner was captured Tuesday morning by Miller County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Hausner was walking the railroad tracks about four miles from the park where he had bolted from a work crew.

The ADC says that as soon as possible, he will be transferred to a more secure facility. Most likely, he will be sent to the Maximum Security Unit at Tucker.

TEXARKANA, Ark. – An Arkansas prison inmate has escaped from the Southwest Arkansas Community Correction Center.

The Arkansas Department of Corrections activated an escape alert Monday morning for Charles Hausner, 37.

Hausner was serving time on a drug conviction.

He is described as 5’8″ tall and 170 pounds.

The ADC says offenders at the Southwest Arkansas Community Correction Center are classified as non-violent and are not registered sex offenders.
