LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Port of Little Rock hosted a groundbreaking event for a new facility Thursday morning.
The event was a collaboration between the Port of Little Rock, Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission.
Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. was in attendance as well as representatives from the Little Rock Port Authority.
During the event, Bluestem Construction along with the mayor and representatives from the port broke ground on the project which is estimated to included just under 1 million square feet.
Included in the first phase of the project will be a 537,000 square foot class A industrial warehouse.
While discussing the project, Little Rock mayor Frank Scott, Jr. expressed the importance of the Port of Little Rock towards the state’s economic development efforts.
“Our port has become a beacon of hope for our city and state’s economic development efforts,” Scott said.
