CRITTENDEN COUNTY, Ark. – A county jailer is charged with smuggling drugs on the job and this isn’t the first time Crittenden County has dealt with the issue.
Authorities say Julion Taylor drove to the Crittenden County jail and placed the drugs in a bathroom trash can.
Deputies say shortly after, Officer Torell Harris went into that public restroom to retrieve the drugs and then re-enter the jail.
Earlier this year, a different officer was caught trying to smuggle drugs into the building.
“Unfortunately in today’s world, that happens way more often than it should. It shouldn’t happen at all but it happens quite often. We try to be vigilant and keep an eye on it,” says Chief Todd Grooms.
Officials say they regularly get tips about potential deliveries and had even been warned of Officer Harris more than once.
They claim they’ll continue to evaluate the best way to keep their facility clean.
