NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- A North Little Rock ministry has been serving families on a small scale since 2006.
Now a dream is becoming a reality as they open a BINGO hall to help fund their efforts on a much larger scale.
In BINGO, as in life, you can't always choose the cards you're dealt.
Each moving part plays a role in your success.
But this game of luck-- is a means of helping women and children in North Little Rock who may be down on their luck.
"The biggest reward is going to come after we see the impact that we're able to make in this community," Corichia Brisco, the founder of Highly Favored Ministries said.
This week, Highly Favored Ministries opened a charitable BINGO hall off Pike Avenue.
"You spend 20 bucks and you could win 300," Brisco says.
But the biggest winners are yet to come.
Brisco has a plan to use the BINGO hall earnings to build a state-of-the-art transitional facility for women getting out of prison.
"People who go back into the same environments, the recidivism rates are much higher," she said.
It's a trend she saw first hand while she worked at the Arkansas Department of Correction.
Since then, she enlisted in the Army National Guard and now works for the federal government...
For a decade now, on her own time, she's been bringing resources to those in the North Little Rock community where she grew up, to whoever needs a boost through counseling, faith and finances.
"Offering realistic real-life approaches, coupled with their faith for those who choose to believe, we're going to be able to make a more powerful impact," she said.
So while your success at the BINGO hall is simply by chance, Brisco wants the success of the families she serves to only have to be a choice.
"They can work hard and that they can achieve great things and I want to provide them the resources and the tools to do that."
