DREW COUNTY, Ark. -- The AAA upheld the ejection of 28 football players following a on-field brawl at last week's Drew Central vs. Hampton game, according to Monticello Live.
That means the 11 Drew Central players and 17 Hampton athletes will have to sit out their next four quarters of competition.
Friday's game was canceled following the fight. Since a full half of football wasn't played, the game will go down in the books as a "no contest."
While no players were hurt in the fight, a state trooper suffered a knee injury trying to get a fan off the field.
That fan, Anthony Jackson, 43, faces charges of resisting arrest, refusal to submit to arrest, battery 2nd degree, injuring a police officer, public intoxication, drinking in public, disorderly conduct, and fighting or violent behavior, according to Monticello Live. His wife was also taken into custody after telling authorities “I’m going with my husband.”
