GREENBRIER, Ark. – It’s a welcome home months in the making. Texas National Guard Sergeant Joshua Collver has been deployed overseas for the past 10 months.
Friday, he showed up to surprise his two daughters at Eastside Elementary in Greenbrier.
Sergeant Collver is glad to be home. The Texas National Guard soldier has spent nearly a year deployed in East Africa.
Being a member of the armed services, deployments take a toll on families, especially his two daughters.
“This will be the first time they have seen me in 10 months,” he said. “I understand they’ve grown quite a bit.”
The school brings in the students for, what they believe, is an assembly honoring two with good attendance.
They call up his daughter’s Micaela and Makenzie.
Then at that very moment, they see their dad. Sergeant Collver’s most important mission is complete.
“I didn’t think he was supposed to be home anytime soon,” said his daughter Micaela.
“I saw a glance and I knew,” explained Makenzie.
From a soldier in Africa to dad. Their hearts are all back in one place.
“We get to see him. We get to interact. We get to touch him and hug him,” Micaela said.
“It’s amazing to have them all together at once. It feels complete,” Sergeant Collver said.
They say they will spend the entire weekend together and they hope to go swimming. It’s something those two girls love to do.
