Medical marijuana business days from opening

Local News

Update:

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Following an inspection yesterday by ABC Enforcement agents, Green Springs Medical dispensary (309 Seneca Street, Hot Springs ) received approval Friday to open for business.

Of the 32 licensed dispensaries, Green Springs Medical is the second to receive this approval. Doctors Orders RX (4893 Malvern Avenue, Hot Springs) received clearance to open last week (May 3).

Questions regarding opening days or hours should be directed to the dispensaries. As additional locations throughout the state are inspected, we will continue to announce results as they are issued.

Original story:

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The inspections have been completed and soon patients will be able to buy medical marijuana in the Natural State. The two dispensaries are in the Hot Springs area.

Green Springs Medical and Drs Orders RX say their phones have been ringing off the hook. They both say they have had their facilities inspected and will be ready to sell in the next few days.

Green Springs Medical CEO Dragan Vicentice says they had their final inspection Thursday. The cases inside sit empty, but will soon be filled with product.

“It’s looking like we’ll be open on Monday at 10:00,” Vicentice said.

It’s been two and a half years since voters passed medical marijuana in Arkansas. Vicentice’s business partner Bruce Simpson says it’s taken a lot to get to this point.

“It’s been a very long time coming. The ends and outs. The ups and downs. The highs and lows,” Simpson said.

Across town, Drs Orders RX is preparing to open up as soon as possible.

“We’re waiting for the final test to be done and that everything segues up, and know that we can make the sale, then we’ll make the announcement we’re open,” Drs Orders RX manager Bud Watkins said.

With thousands of patients ready to buy, and product slim, Green Springs Medical hopes to make it so more people have access at first.

According to law, a patient can buy 2.5 oz of marijuana every 14 days.

“We’re putting a cap on it at .5 oz/per person that way a ton of people can get medication and it won’t be 2 or 3 hours into the day and we’re sold out,” Vicentice said.

Green Springs Medical says people have called asking if they could camp out in the parking lot Sunday night.

Drs Orders RX says it will update its website when it is officially ready to sell.
